Southern Patagonia Post-Extension
Trip Description
Our Southern Patagonia Post-Extension takes us to some of the most unbelievable landscapes in the world. On our trip, you will experience seemingly endless Patagonian icecaps, deep fjords and rugged peaks of the southern Andes. Not only the landscapes will make your jaw drop but also the array of incredible bird species. We will go in search for the unique and bizarre looking Magellanic Plover and we will also visit in Tierra del Fuego a newly established King Penguin breeding colony. This splendid species congregates year-round on this site and they have successfully started to breed and raise young here.
This tour will take us to Punta Arenas, Chile’s southernmost city; Torres del Paine National Park, one of the gems of Chile and certainly one the most visited parks in Patagonia; Tierra del Fuego, Known as one of the world’s final frontiers and we will bird along the coast of the mythic Straits of Magellan which will add a great array of seabirds!

Day 1: Flight to Punta Arenas, Late Afternoon Coastal Birding
Day 2: Morning Birding by Ferry to Tierra del Fuego; Birding Rest of Day at Tierra del Fuego: Coastal Birding in a Variety of Habitats, King Penguins and More
Day 3: Morning Birding the Laguna Verde; Ferry Back; Birding Pali Aike Road to Puerto Natales
Day 4: Birding Torres del Paine National Park
Day 5: Birding Sierra Baguales Range
Day 6: Morning Flight to Santiago and Start of Flights Home
